荧光探针是一类经过智能设计的分子,可以将其与目标分子的结合/反应转变为光信号,通过荧光信号的变化(波长、强度、寿命等)达到识别和标记目标分子的作用。他们具备高灵敏度、高分辨率、选择性好的特征,可以在复杂的生物环境中实时高精度地观察特定的分析物。近年来,荧光探针在生物技术领域得到了广泛而重要的应用,譬如DNA自动测序,蛋白质检测,抗体免疫分析,疾病诊断,抗癌药物分析等。当前新型冠状病毒(2019-nCoV)核酸检测试剂盒正是应用了实时荧光RT-PCR这一方法。除了生物学用途外,荧光探针还可以用于环境、农业以及工业污染物的检测,这使得荧光探针在公共健康和安全方面变得尤为重要。
为了及时报道国内外荧光探针的最新研究进展及其在各领域的潜在应用价值,Frontiers of Chemical Science and Engineering(《化学科学与工程前沿》)邀请到英国巴斯大学的Tony D. James 教授,组织了一期以“荧光探针”为主题的专刊,具体内容如下,敬请关注。
